EVERY TABLE DESERVES THE RIGHT CHAIR: On Synergy, Circularity, and the Poetry of Design

They say every table needs a chair.
We say — every table deserves the right ones.

In our world, objects are not just functional. They are stories. Memory keepers. Sculptural extensions of self. And sometimes, the right piece doesn’t come from a moodboard — it comes from a deeper kind of knowing. A quiet moment of recognition.

That’s how our collaboration with Hey Circular began.

The Search for the Perfect Set

For months, we searched for the perfect mix of chairs to surround our studio table. We imagined an eclectic blend, a curated clash of forms and styles — something expressive, sculptural, instinctive. But the more we searched, the more it slipped through our fingers. Four chairs were bought, then cancelled. Nothing felt quite right. Too forced. Too trend-driven. Too disconnected from our aesthetic truth.

And then, something different arrived.

Not just chairs — but a story.

1979 Called: Six Bruno Rey Chairs Reborn

When the team at Hey Circular reached out with their vision and offered to restore a set of six vintage Bruno Rey chairs just for us, everything shifted. These weren’t just any chairs. They were icons from 1979 — originally made by Kusch+Co for a cafeteria in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Part of a dissolved set of over 1,000 chairs, Hey Circular rescued them from disappearance. They bought the entire furnishing, transported it to Berlin, and began the slow, reverent work of bringing each piece back to life.

Our six were restored by hand. Painted in a soft, sculptural tone — custom-mixed to match our world. They arrived with presence. With soul. With decades of memory polished into their grain. And as soon as we placed them around our studio table, we knew: this was it.

The story was complete.

Hey Circular: Beauty with a Conscience

Founded in Berlin by Frederik Astagneau and Daniel Kuzki, Hey Circular is built on the belief that good design already exists — it just needs to be saved. Their work is an act of preservation, of giving high-quality vintage furniture a second life through professional refurbishment. In their Berlin warehouse and workshop, chairs, tables, and design classics are restored, repainted, and reimagined for a new generation of creatives, businesses, and collectors around the world.

Their mission speaks deeply to ours: reduce waste, embrace timelessness, and reject the disposable mindset of fast trends. Like us, they believe in less — but better. In fewer objects, but deeper meaning. In longevity over novelty.

Shared Values, Shared Aesthetic

Our collaboration was born out of synergy — not just in visual language, but in spirit. At Carrara, every object we create is made to last. To evolve with its owner. To reflect a deeper state of presence and connection. We don’t make for trends — we make for the long now.

Hey Circular operates with the same conviction. Their restored Bruno Rey chairs are not just functional — they’re emotional. Sculptural. Timeless. They carry the patina of the past, the quiet beauty of craft, and the clarity of intentional design. Now, they live in our studio — six soft-spoken icons grounding our creative table, holding space for the work we do and the rituals we honor.

When the Right Pieces Find You

We believe that the best objects are not chosen — they’re found. Or perhaps, they find us. When material, story, and soul align, the result is more than design — it’s poetry. Our Bruno Rey chairs are that poetry. And we are deeply grateful to Fred, Dan, and the Hey Circular team for making it possible.

Sometimes, all it takes is a table. And the right chairs.
Sometimes, that’s how new stories begin.
