OUR STORY

In the heart of Riga, Latvia, CARRARA was born from a passion for timeless design and meaningful art. Founded in 2020 by Valeria and Hermans Sanzharovets, CARRARA is more than just an art studio—it's a universe where creativity and craftsmanship converge. With backgrounds in the creative industry, Valeria and Hermans envisioned a space where art and interior design would not only coexist but elevate each other, resulting in pieces that transcend time.

MADE BY VALERIA

Valeria Sanzharovets is the visionary artist behind CARRARA. Her journey began in childhood, blossoming through her formal education in Interior Design at Latvian University. Valeria's work is an exploration of human nature and artistic expression, characterized by a unique kinesthetic approach. She believes that art should be felt as much as it is seen, inviting viewers to engage with the tactile aspects of her creations.

THE ARTISTIC PROCESS

Valeria’s artistic philosophy is deeply influenced by her studies on brain wave rhythms and their impact on creativity. This led to the creation of her 'Escapism' series, where each piece reflects the patterns of neural activity associated with different states of mind. Her works prioritize shape, rhythm, and proportion, with color playing a supportive role. This approach allows viewers to become absorbed in the textures and patterns, exploring the emotional depth of each piece.

BEYOND THE CANVAS

When she’s not creating art, Valeria is an avid collector of iconic interior design pieces. "When I talk about iconic design pieces, I mean influence, innovation, and timelessness," she explains. Her studio is a curated gallery of vintage treasures, including the Wassily by Marcel Breuer and the anniversary Tizio by Richard Sapper. These pieces reflect her belief that our spaces shape us as much as we shape them.
